
Yu Ji's energy and enthusiasm for the figure is evident through his own work and his commitment to his students, who praise his teaching and the clarity he brings to complicated figurative concepts.
Yu Ji studied art in France and New Hampshire prior to receiving his MFA in painting, drawing and printmaking from State University of New York at New Paltz.
Ji has taught at Eastern Illinois University, Southern Utah University and the Central Academy of Fine Arts in China. He currently teaches at California State College at Long Beach.
Yu Ji was featured in American Artist magazine in January 2000. His artwork has been exhibited extensively throughout the United States, including exhibitions at Colfax Cultural Center in South Bend, IN, Marllin Gallery in Kansas City, MO, and Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda, FL.
